Art Fest

For the past few years Jessica has hosted an art fest during the Labor Day Weekend.  On Saturday from 11:00 AM-3:00 PM everyone is invited to show their crafts, artistic materials, or any other type of creative skills.  It's amazing to see what some of our members do while not at the park.  The items are basically for display, but sometimes the artists will sell them.

Variety Show

Sunday night August 31 at 8:00 PM will be our annual Variety night and Talent Show.  In previous years there have been skits by members, a stand up comedian, singing and drumming. You just never know what talent will be showcased.  Everyone is invited to participate.  Just remember this is a family oriented campground and material must be suitable for all ages.

John's Comments

It's strange--I'm sorry that the park hasn't sold, yet I'm happy that the park hasn't sold.  Susan and I think Jay and Melissa will be good owners and will do a lot for the park; but I will miss operating the park.  It's frustrating and rewarding.  I have enjoyed owning and operating Cedar Creek.  I have put a lot of time and energy into it.  I want to see it continue to grow.  But it is time to move on.  I can't believe I have applied for Social Security (Am I that old?)

In the eight years we have owned and operated the park both membership and revenue have increased about 50%.  The whole personality of the park has changed.  It is more alive and vibrant and thanks in large part to the social committee we have more activities than any other club our size.

I'm looking forward to another Nudestock. It takes a lot of planning.  I finally have it down to a system.  With help from  our members it always runs smoothly.

And still to come, my favorite eating event of the year the Oyster Roast in November.  We are not sure which weekend yet.  Check the website for the date.

I'm taking flying lessons.  I recently did my first solo flight.  What a thrill!  With us retiring I need a new hobby and of course a new toy.  In the future look for some great new aerial views of the park.

Social Committee

If you have enjoyed an activity or band while at the park thank a member of the  Cedar Creek Social Committee Executive Board.  These nine members (Jake, Don S, Mary W, Elaine J, Mindy, Denise, Sylvia, Bonnie and Colin) do the planning and make sure activities run smoothly.  At many events they hold raffles or 50/50 drawings to make the money for all the activities.  In addition various members of the park support them by assisting or conducting an event.

If you have ideas for events or any social activity you would like to see at the park give the idea to a board member, volunteer to be in charge of an event, or volunteer to run for the board.  The board meets once a month, usually the first Saturday.  You don't have to be here for every event--just the ones you volunteer to host.  If you are good at delegating you might be the person for one of these spots.  The more people we get involved the more fun you have.

Now is the time to start nominating members for the 2009 board.  The election will be held in October.
There will be seven open slots this year.
